better recycling labels
As part of Bulla’s sustainability program we have committed to implementing the Australasian Recycling Labels on our packaging. The Australasian Recycling Labels are designed to assist in taking the confusion out of recycling, so we can all dispose of our waste correctly, to keep contamination out of the recycling stream and recyclable material away from landfill.
Planet Ark and the Australian Packaging Covenant developed the labels to remove confusion, save time and reduce waste going to landfill. Packaging recyclability is much more than just the material it’s made of. Things like shape, size, inks and glues, can impact the recyclability of an item.
The Australasian Recycling Labels take all of this into consideration, as well as the amount of the population that has access for that item to be recycled via their kerbside recycling collection service.
All Bulla primary retail packaging has been reviewed using the PREP tool, to assess the recyclability based on the infrastructure available in Australia and New Zealand. PREP has defined which packaging elements are recyclable, non-recyclable, or conditionally recyclable and provided the appropriate ARL to use on pack, to give customers clear instructions on how to best dispose of the packaging. Through using the PREP tool Bulla has a better understanding of the packaging recyclability and resulted in a high level of confidence in our data.

an update
REDcycle program status
Due to challenges with soft plastic recycling, the REDcycle scheme is no longer operational. Unfortunately, this means that there is no collection of soft plastics available for customers at the present time. Industry is working hard to identify pathways to create new scheme(s). In the meantime, we ask that you dispose of your soft plastics in your home’s general rubbish/landfill bin. Rest assured, our business continues to be supportive of recycling initiatives. Thank you for your understanding.
our planet
We’re acting on climate change, fighting food waste and reducing the environmental footprint of our packaging, so we can create a future for dairy we can be proud of.
