Slow Cooked Spiced Lamb Shanks
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup plain flour
- salt flakes & freshly ground black pepper
- 4 frenched lamb shanks
- 2 onions
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 tsp cumin
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 3 carrots
- 1L chicken stock
- 2 tsp honey
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 150mL Bulla Cooking Cream
to serve
- Bulla Crème Fraîche
- couscous, green beans, coriander, flaked almonds
Cooking Directions
- Heat half the oil in a large frying pan. Place flour and seasonings in a plastic bag, add lamb shanks and shake to coat. Add lamb shanks to hot pan and sear until golden brown. Remove and place in the bowl of a slow cooker.
- Add remaining oil to pan, cook onion and garlic until tender. Stir in spices and cook until fragrant. Add tomato paste and cook for a further minute. Spoon mixture into slow cooker with carrots, stock, honey and cinnamon. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- When meat is falling off the bone, stir in Bulla Cooking Cream and cook for a further 5 minutes.
- To serve, plate lamb shank and drizzle with sauce. Accompany with couscous, green beans and finish with a dollop of Bulla Crème Fraîche, some almonds and coriander.
