In 2023, we started a partnership with genU– an organisation that helps people with disabilities to be included in the workforce through supported employment8. Of Australia’s 2.1 million people of working age with disability, less than half are employed (47.8%) compared with 80.3% of people without disability9.
Bulla is proud to offer supported employment to six employees working in our Colac operations site for four shifts a week. In each shift, two genU supported employees work with additional support from a genU supervisor.

what’s next
A recent genU supported employee is transitioning to open employment directly with Bulla. At Bulla, we acknowledge the valuable strengths, skills, and capabilities of all people, and in 2024 we hope to extend supported employment opportunities to other Bulla locations.
In collaboration with Diversity Partners, we are improving diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at Bulla. Our DEI Council and Senior Leadership Team have been trained in Building Inclusive Leadership Capability to respect and create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce. This, along with recent internal engagement surveys, has led to the development of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Action Plan which outlines key initiatives we will implement from FY23. This will focus in areas where we know we need to improve- such as how we measure and monitor diversity in our workforce and improve gender equality across our sites.

At Bulla, food safety and quality is paramount and has been integral to our approach in producing great Australian dairy products for over 100 years. We will continue to apply best practice food safety and quality standards.
